Italian Capital of Culture, Procida wins. A howl of joy erupted among the island's organizing committee at the proclamation broadcast live on Mibact channels. The Minister for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, Dario Franceschini, announced the name of the Italian Capital of Culture 2022 shortly after 10 a.m. The island and its project beat out the finalists-Ancona, Bari, Cerveteri, L'Aquila, Pieve di Soligo, Taranto, Trapani, Verbania, and Volterra.
